Explore the Gannet Colony in the beautiful Hawke's Bay with this tractor and trailer tour along the beach to see the local bird colony. Departing at low tide, this tour is unlike any other and has been operating in the area since 1952. Travelling along the Hawke's Bay coastline from Clifton to Cape Kidnappers, this tour will show you the natural beauty this famed region possesses.

The tour pays a visit to two different colonies; the Black Reef colony where you'll travel so close you could touch these wild animals from the back of the trailer, and the Plateau colony reached via a scenic walk from Cape Kidnappers. Combining incredible, sweeping views of the region with wild animal encounters this tour offers visitors some of the best photo opportunities to make this adventure one to remember. Depending on the time of year you visit, you may be lucky enough to see some new-born chicks getting their bearings or some older chicks just learning to fly.

Tours depart from 475 Clifton Road, Clifton (25 minute drive from Napier, Hastings or Havelock North)

There is plenty of free parking available on the roadside, and public toilets are available at the departure point in Clifton
